LifeLock vs IdentityForce: What “Family” Actually Adds

Two things matter more than the word “Family” in this comparison: which plan includes credit monitoring, and how many bureaus it monitors.

IdentityForce’s base UltraSecure plans, individual and family, currently do not list credit-bureau monitoring. The +Credit plans add daily TransUnion reports and scores, three-bureau monitoring and alerts, and quarterly three-bureau reports. The Family versions primarily expand household coverage to two adults and child monitoring for up to ten children.

Norton 360 with LifeLock currently lists one-bureau credit monitoring on Select Plus and Advantage, and three-bureau monitoring on Ultimate Plus. Norton also uses promotional first-year prices that renew at higher published annual prices.

Neither service has been purchased by Nesswick. This is a research-based comparison of current public plan pages, checked on October 2, 2026.

Before either of them: the freezes

A credit freeze is free. It makes it harder for someone else to open new accounts in your name. You must place it separately with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. For online or phone requests, the bureaus must place a freeze within one business day. Federal law also provides free freezes for children under 16.

A freeze is preventive but does not stop every form of identity theft, including misuse of existing accounts. Monitoring and restoration services can still have a different role.

What each IdentityForce tier costs

TierAnnual priceCredit monitoringStated insurance
UltraSecure$199.90None listed$1 million
UltraSecure+Credit$349.903 bureaus$2 million*
UltraSecure Family$249.90None listed$1 million*
UltraSecure+Credit Family$399.903 bureaus$2 million*

*IdentityForce states that insurance coverage varies in New York. The +Credit tiers list three-bureau monitoring for TransUnion, Experian and Equifax. Family plans list two adults monitored and child credit activity monitoring for up to ten children.

The key correction

Paying for IdentityForce “Family” does not add credit monitoring to UltraSecure. UltraSecure Family adds household coverage, but its current feature list does not include credit-bureau monitoring. For three-bureau monitoring, the relevant family tier is UltraSecure+Credit Family at $399.90/year.

Norton 360 with LifeLock: current published annual pricing

TierFirst yearRenewalCredit monitoringIdentity-theft benefit limits
Select Plus$99.99$189.991 bureauUp to $1M lawyers/experts + $25k stolen funds + $25k personal expenses
Advantage$199.99$259.991 bureauUp to $1M lawyers/experts + $100k stolen funds + $100k personal expenses
Ultimate Plus$299.99$364.993 bureausUp to $1M each for lawyers/experts, stolen funds, and personal expenses per adult

Select Plus rises from $99.99 to $189.99 at renewal. That is approximately a 90% increase ((189.99 − 99.99) / 99.99 ≈ 90.0%). Advantage rises to $259.99 and Ultimate Plus to $364.99 under the currently published annual renewal pricing.

What “Family” means here

The earlier article treated “Family” as if it implied a bureau-monitoring level. It does not. With IdentityForce, the decisive split is UltraSecure vs UltraSecure+Credit: the base plan does not list credit monitoring, while +Credit lists three-bureau monitoring. “Family” changes who is covered.

On Norton’s currently published individual plans, Select Plus and Advantage each list one-bureau monitoring. Ultimate Plus lists three-bureau monitoring for each adult and also lists credit reports and scores: one-bureau updates available daily and three-bureau reports annually.

What the insurance language actually says

The headline benefit numbers are not directly interchangeable. Norton separates coverage for lawyers and experts, stolen-funds reimbursement and personal-expense reimbursement. Select Plus currently presents these as up to $1 million, $25,000 and $25,000 respectively; Advantage as up to $1 million, $100,000 and $100,000; and Ultimate Plus as up to $1 million in each category per adult.

IdentityForce currently states $1 million identity-theft insurance on UltraSecure and $2 million on UltraSecure+Credit, with a note that coverage varies in New York. All such figures are policy limits subject to terms, conditions and exclusions; they are not guaranteed payouts.

Restoration and prevention

Both services advertise restoration assistance. Norton states that a U.S.-based Personal Restoration Specialist assists identity-theft victims, subject to its guarantee terms. IdentityForce lists a Dedicated Restoration Specialist and fully managed restoration.

Neither service can prevent all identity theft. Norton expressly states that no one can prevent all cybercrime or identity theft. A credit freeze remains a separate preventive tool for new-account credit fraud.

Which structure fits which need

If you want IdentityForce without credit monitoring: UltraSecure and UltraSecure Family are the current base options. The family version covers two adults and includes child credit activity monitoring for up to ten children.

If you specifically want IdentityForce three-bureau monitoring: the +Credit tiers are the relevant plans. UltraSecure+Credit Family is currently $399.90/year.

If you are comparing Norton bureau coverage: Select Plus and Advantage currently list one-bureau monitoring; Ultimate Plus lists three-bureau monitoring.

If price matters: compare Norton’s first-year promotional price with its published renewal price, not just the buy-button price.

What this comparison cannot tell you

Nesswick has not subscribed to either service. This comparison therefore does not rank detection speed, alert accuracy, restoration quality, customer support or claims handling. Those outcomes cannot be established from plan documentation alone.

IdentityForce ownership note

IdentityForce remains an active product brand associated with Sontiq, which TransUnion acquired in December 2021. TransUnion’s public filings continue to identify IdentityForce as a solution obtained through the Sontiq acquisition.
